About Dr. Julia H. Ciano

Dr. Ciano has been practicing NUCCA chiropractic exclusively since her graduation from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa in 1979. She is a Diplomate of National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Dr. Ciano was personally trained in the NUCCA technique by the late Dr. Ralph R. Gregory of Monroe, Michigan, who was the founder and developer of NUCCA. Dr. Ciano worked with Dr. Gregory following her graduation in 1979 and remained in Michigan as his associate until 1982.

Dr. Ciano was also the first woman to be elected to the Board of Directors of the NUCCA organization. She was the first woman to teach the NUCCA technique at national conferences for continuing education and relicensure to doctors, and at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. She also taught NUCCA at Life College of Chiropractic in California. Her technical drawings have been published in NUCCA’s professional journal, “The Monograph”, in NUCCA brochures and in the NUCCA textbook. She is mentioned for her role in the history of NUCCA in the text "NUCCA Protocols and Perspectives: A Textbook for the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association."

Aside from NUCCA chiropractic, another passion for the Doctor has been nutrition and health. Dr. Ciano is a Level II graduate of the Michio Kushi Institute, specializing in the Macrobiotic Diet. She is also a certified Herbalist. Retired as a triathlete and marathon runner, Dr. Ciano continues to participate in endurance sports and weight training, and enjoys an active lifestyle. An avid reader of nonfiction and research related to the brain and the body, she also loves art and classical music.

Dr. Ciano has been a member of the Rotary International since 2002 and is a Paul Harris Fellow. She has also been a member of the Junior League and Toastmasters International. She is a Dale Carnegie graduate, and has graduated from several courses through the Academy of Coaching Excellence. She has taught classes on nutrition, healthful lifestyles, cooking and weight training.

The Doctor has practiced at her present location since 1983.
